What's your background?
I've spent more than a decade working in newspapers as a designer and art director. I recently returned to Virginia after living in L.A. where I worked for The Los Angeles Times. I've also done more freelance wedding invitations and baby announcements than I can count!
What's your personal decorating style?
My style is best described as Contemporary Country. Ever see the movie "The Holiday?" I'm split right down the middle between
Kate Winslet's English cottage and Cameron Diaz's California chic. Comfortable, cozy with clean lines and no fuss.
Biggest decorating influence?
Hands down my Mom and her impeccable eye for detail. My design crushes vary from Ruthie Sommers’ vintage beauty to TLC’s
Laurie Smith
and her appreciation for pattern.
Do you collect anything?
I love photography and have a collection of vintage cameras, primarily Kodak Brownies. Great for display and one day I’ll try to get
one to work!
Other cameras include a Minolta subminiature camera my Dad used in Vietnam and my grandfather's Canon from 1965.
What's your ideal weekend?
Spending time with my husband Jim and our (reeeally cute) mutt, Chewie. Going to the movies. Visiting our adorable nieces and nephews. Dinner with friends. A pile of decorating magazines. Getting lost in iTunes. Shopping spree at Target.
Have more questions for me? Drop me a line, I’d love to hear from you!
